St Nicholas church, depicted in a charming hand-coloured postcard circa 1900. (A Stewart collection)
Until 1930, when construction of the Western Docks led to huge land reclamation, there was a beach alongside the railway at Millbrook. The station footbridge is visible, and a "down" train is due. (A Stewart collection)
Millbrook village was completely swept away by post-war development, leaving just a handful of buildings. This view is unrecognisable today! (A Stewart collection)
This century-old view of Holy Trinity shows the manor house next door. Today this site is occupied by Trinity Trading Estate.
The manor and grounds, in a more leisurely age.
An early bus pauses by the lych-gate which dates from 1907. The bus appears to be a Daimler, operated by Edward Locke of Landford, who ran a service from there to Southampton on 4 days a week during the 1920s. (A Stewart collection)
Another view of the lych-gate, which has been moved twice to accommodate road widening.
Entering the church, this view shows the original rood screen and cross, which were removed in 1922.
The Lady Chapel, prior to the relocation of the organ behind this altar.
Fr Stephenson and his servers pose outside church in 1953. Today we're down to three servers; a few extra recruits would be most welcome!!
The final blessing, sometime in the 1950s. Note the curtain across the east wall, concealing the carved reredos and murals.
Note the organ in its original location in the vestry.Back row - Fr R W Stephenson, Fred Cooper, Colin ?, Steve James and ?.Front row - ? Budd, Michael Rowlands, Geoffrey Budd, David Rowlands, Roger Hawkins.(Thanks to Steve James for the info)
Another interior view. The baldacchino was funded by the McCarraher family.
Fr Rex Holyhead solemnly leads a procession.
Holy Trinity church is in the distance, as preserved steam locomotive 34067 'Tangmere' passes on 28 November 2009, hauling a through train from Swanage to London.
